USAFA Alpine Ski Team

USAFA Alpine carries a long competitive lineage in a deliberately small roster. The team began racing in the 1960s, once trained at the Broadmoor ski area, and later shifted from Division I to USCSA competition. Its modern focus remains slalom and giant slalom, usually with about five men and five women.

Cadets must earn a place through tryouts, commonly held in December or January, so the program is more selective than an all-level recreational club. Recent men’s results include fifth at the 2023 national championships and a return to nationals in 2025 as the highest-finishing service-academy men’s team. Fundraising supplements the team’s budget for training and travel while cadets balance racing with Academy obligations.
