About USAFA Nordic Skiing Competitive Team
The Air Force Academy’s Nordic team is competitive without being experience-exclusive. Cadets of every ability may join; each year, returning members teach newcomers the fundamentals and provide the equipment needed to learn and race. Early spring-semester travel gives the team on-snow practice before the conference calendar begins.
Across a season, athletes enter eight club-conference races and pursue qualification for the USCSA Collegiate National Championships. Events can range from one-kilometer sprint relays to half-marathon distances, demanding both speed and endurance. Donor support helps cover registration, wax, equipment maintenance, uniforms, and national-championship travel beyond the team’s base budget. The program therefore combines peer instruction, shared equipment, and serious collegiate racing within the cadet schedule.
