Flatirons Ski Club

Flatirons Ski Club traces its roots to Lake Eldora instructors who formed the Lake Eldora Ski Club in 1963. Members adopted the current name in 1971 as the group expanded beyond one ski area and beyond skiing itself. Today, the volunteer-run Boulder nonprofit has roughly 260 members, many in their fifties through seventies, and publishes a monthly calendar of trips and social activities.

Winter plans include downhill destinations such as Crested Butte, Snowmass, Steamboat, Wolf Creek, and Monarch, plus Nordic and snowshoe outings at places including Snow Mountain Ranch and Devil’s Thumb. Warmer months bring hikes, wildflower rambles, cycling, and paddling. Tuesday evening hikes ending in potluck dinners, book and game nights, Friday gatherings, and annual membership and spring parties give the club a distinctly year-round rhythm.
