About Powderhorn Racing Club
Powderhorn Racing Club is a community-based youth organization serving skiers around Grand Junction and Powderhorn Mountain Resort. Its alpine ladder begins with a Saturday Buddy Werner program for ages 6–13, centered on all-around skills for younger or less experienced athletes. The two-day Youth Ski League team adds regular training and travel to nearby races, while the age-class program serves advanced U.S. Ski & Snowboard competitors through age 17.
The club has also added a big-mountain/freeride option for advanced skiers age 10 and older, broadening what was historically a race-focused program. Home events include Grand Valley Race League dates and championship-level age-group races. The scale remains local and approachable: a Western Slope route from a child's first race to structured regional competition.
