About Slippers-N-Sliders Ski Club

Slippers-N-Sliders began in Denver in 1972 with a mission to expand skiing among minority communities. It became one of the founding clubs of the National Brotherhood of Skiers, helping shape a national movement that joined social connection with a long-term goal of developing Black snowsports athletes. The club continues to offer trips, family membership, fundraising, and year-round recreation.

Its signature local contribution is Ski For Kids, created in 1974 for Denver-area children whose families could not otherwise afford the sport. The club reports that the program has introduced more than 2,000 young people to skiing. Hiking, biking, rafting, golf, camping, picnics, and parties keep members connected outside winter, while fundraising supports both Ski For Kids and the National Brotherhood’s athlete-development work.
