Sunlight Winter Sports Club

Sunlight Winter Sports Club has trained young athletes at Sunlight Mountain Resort since 1972. A volunteer board, skilled local volunteers, and a small group of licensed coaches keep the program deliberately community-scaled, serving nearly 100 children from the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys. Alpine choices range from Buddy Werner fundamentals and all-mountain skiing to Youth Ski League competition.

The club's most distinctive newer branch is ski mountaineering. Established in 2020, the skimo team serves ages 12–18 who can confidently ski black terrain, teaching efficient uphill travel, transitions, endurance, mountain safety, race preparation, and fueling. Program fees and outside contributions share the operating burden, while Sunlight Mountain Resort provides the home terrain for training and races.
