About Team Monarch
Team Monarch is Monarch Mountain's in-house competition pathway for intermediate-to-advanced skiers and snowboarders ages 7–18. Introduction to Competition gives independent riders experience in competitive movement and local events, including Monarch's own IFSA stop, Town Challenge, and Cooper Cup racing. Athletes who demonstrate the necessary skills can then move into the longer Freeride Competition program.
That upper track is built around Rocky Mountain IFSA regional and national events, with previous participation in a Monarch or another recognized freeride program required. The team's acronym—FREE-R.I.D.E., for Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Elevation—captures its combination of skill progression and conduct. Unlike a broad resort ski school, the program is specifically for young athletes ready to use competition as their next step.
