Aspen Camp

Aspen Camp’s Youth Winter Camp is designed around Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants rather than adding interpretation to a hearing-first program. Campers ages 10–17 ski or snowboard at Snowmass and Buttermilk in groups of three to five, with instruction for everyone from first-timers to advanced riders. Deaf athletes and both Deaf and hearing instructors help lead the mountain experience.

ASL is the primary language at camp, although fluency is not required and ASL-voice interpreters are available. The multi-day package includes lodging, meals, local transportation, lift tickets, and equipment rental, with counselors supervising cabins and support staff stationed around the mountain. Evening activities, Deaflympian presentations, and a final hot-springs outing turn the program into a residential community experience rather than a sequence of standalone lessons.
