Colorado’s adaptive snowsports community serves a wide range of physical, cognitive, sensory, and behavioral disabilities. Programs may include private instruction, specialized equipment, guide services, youth camps, veteran experiences, and elite competition.

Founded by Paralympic medalist Amy Purdy and Daniel Gale, this Copper Mountain nonprofit pairs recreational adaptive snowboarding with high-performance coaching and a pathway toward national-team and Paralympic competition.

Durango / Purgatory
Durango’s Adaptive Sports Association has taught at Purgatory since 1983, delivering full- and half-day private ski and snowboard lessons with individualized instruction, adaptive equipment, lift access, and scholarships.

Born as Powderhorn’s adaptive ski program in 1980, Colorado Discover Ability still provides the resort’s adaptive instruction while offering year-round recreation and a Special Olympics race pathway for Western Slope athletes.

Foresight pairs blind and low-vision skiers with intensively trained volunteer guides at Vail and Beaver Creek, while helping coordinate lift tickets, equipment, ground transportation, and lodging.

Ignite runs volunteer-led private lessons at Eldora in alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, sit-skiing, and ski biking, with equipment and lift access included and free participation for disabled veterans.
