National Sports Center for the Disabled

The National Sports Center for the Disabled operates a full winter ecosystem at Winter Park Resort. Its ski school welcomes participants from age four with no prior experience and tailors alpine, snowboard, ski-bike, Nordic, and snowshoe instruction to individual goals. Lessons include expert instruction, a Winter Park lift ticket, and matched adaptive equipment such as sit-skis, stand-ski setups, ski bikes, or snowboards.

Programs branch in several directions from that foundation. Children can join resort ski-school peers with NSCD support; independent adults can use a trained mountain guide; camps build racing skills or community; and military retreats package instruction with transportation, meals, and lodging. At the performance end, the Competition Center coaches physically disabled athletes who meet para-alpine classifications, from emerging racers through Paralympic competitors.
